AUTOADAPT Function
The MAGNA3 automatically optimizes pump speed based on system demand. No manual commissioning is required in most applications.

Annual Maintenance
- No lubrication required (wet-rotor design)

- Verify no external leaks at shaft seal area
- Clean debris strainer upstream of pump

Grundfos MAGNA3 pump — fault code on display
- F: Underpressure — insufficient inlet pressure to pump
- W: High motor temperature — inadequate cooling (dry running or high liquid temp)
- F: External fault — dry running protection activated
- Overload — current draw exceeding motor rating
- Read fault code from MAGNA3 display — hold INFO button for detail
- Check inlet pressure at pump suction — must be positive
- Verify liquid temperature is within pump specification (typically up to 230°F/110°C depending on model)
- Check external fault input terminal for signal from external sensor
- Increase system fill pressure to above minimum required
- Investigate dry running condition — check water level and strainer
- Correct external fault condition (low level float, pressure switch)
MAGNA3 energy consumption higher than expected
- System operating at off-design point — excess pressure from oversized valves
- Auto adapt mode not enabled — pump not optimizing to load
- System air causing cavitation at impeller
- Bypass valve open — pump working against open loop
- Enable Auto Adapt mode via MAGNA3 interface — pump will optimize over 24–48 hours
- Measure differential pressure at pump and compare to system design curve
- Check for system air — MAGNA3 has internal air detection that reduces efficiency
- Verify all system bypass and balancing valves at design position
- Enable Auto Adapt; set correct design point setpoint
- Purge system air via highest point bleeds
- Close unnecessary bypass valves — they reduce pump efficiency significantly
